Date of Birth: August 17th
Gender: Female
Occupation: Unemployed; former university student
Heritage: Anoa; Bubalus depressicornis
Seed Rank: Light seed
Birthplace: Katipi Mountain, Buton Island, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia
Appearance:
FACE - Nesia is very proud of her hair. Straight brown-black, thick, sleek and shines beautifully under any kind of light. She keeps it in medium length, just few centimeters past her shoulder; with bangs on her forehead. She usually lets her hair falls around her shoulder, or tied it in ponytail when the weather is hot or when she's dancing. Her next most prominent feature is her eyes - big, in a very dark shade of brown.
BODY - She has a 57 kg hourglass-shaped body. Her love of food granted her extra weight. Thanks to her hobby, the extra mass is distributed evenly so it accentuated her body shape, although she still looked chubby. Nesia is short, her height barely passed 5 feet.
CLOTHING - Nesia likes her clothes to be light in weight and have earthly colors. She dislikes heavy clothing that hinder her movements. No matter the weather is, Nesia will always dress modestly. You won't see her wearing sleeveless shirt or shorts even in the hottest summer days. On casual occasions, she usually wears long pants/skirts, loose t-shirt and a hooded jacket. The latter is to protect her hair and body from the sun's unbearable heat or sudden rain.
ANIMAL - Her anoa form slightly resembles the other bovidae with medium-length horns protruding out from her head.
Distinguishing Features: Temporary flowers and plant vines tattoo on her left arm, drawn with henna. Newly drawn tattoo is dark-red in color. Will fades gradually within days.
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Likes:
- Mud bath-----A trait passed from her animal heritage. When she was little, Nesia often have a mud bath together with her cousins in their shared house. Once they were able to stay in human shape, they sometimes sneaked to the mud pool and threw mud at each other. Their grandparents weren't pleased with that.
- Social media network-----Keeping in touch with friends and acquaintances is important! Especially now that she's away in France with nothing but internet to connect her to her cousins. Social media is also a great tool to keep herself updated about news and issues around the world. Nesia is always careful to keep her current location secret, since sometimes her cousins slipped private and secret stuffs during family dinner.
- Food-----Nesia likes almost every taste, be it sweet, spicy, salty or even bitter - it's food! Except the tasteless ones, that is. She's always eager to taste new dishes from foreign countries and certainly won't skip a chance where she can eat as much as she can handle. Nesia knows her limit, though. She'll stop her eating-spree once her stomach no longer growling in hunger. If you ask nicely, Nesia will gladly shares her food. Just beware if it has strong smell and red-colored. Your stomach might be unable to handle it. All food is good, but it's better if it's spicy and the best if it's FREE!
- Drama series-----Even though she has partial preferences to Asian drama, Nesia also enjoys telenovela, Bollywood movies and soap opera. When watching one, she'll be too absorbed and sometimes might suddenly crying over the leading character's misfortune or angry at the antagonist's evil scheme. While she does enjoy the ones with good plot and character development, Nesia watches the bad ones for the sake of laughing at the bad script, bad acting and ridiculous plot twist.
- Scary stories-----Nesia loves the thrill she experiences when she hears a scary story. She would spare some time to read them online or watch them on TV, even though she would be too afraid to go to bathroom alone afterwards. It's somewhat satisfying seeing younger kids cower in fear after listening to her stories.
- Relaxing-----Her idea of relaxing is taking a nap, having a warm bath or simply sitting in a café with a cup of coffee. Enjoy the moment, the weather and the good companion. No need to rush things, there's always tomorrow to finish everything that needs to be done.
- Open space-----Being in outdoor is great: the smell of grass, the sound of waves, and the soft wind... everything. It doesn't mean she doesn't like indoors, though. Indoor is fine as long as they have windows allowing air circulation. Stagnant air in closed spaces is not good for your health.
- Coffee and tea-----Nesia always start her day with a cup of tea or, on weekend, coffee. The woman likes them both sweet. Her favorite tea flavor is jasmine.
- Her cousins-----Whenever she stayed at Katipi during school holidays, her cousins would sit around her and demanded stories from the big city. Nesia likes being around them, mostly because they were the only zumans she knew at that time. She often brought them gifts and food from Jakarta.
- Watching soccer-----She doesn't looked like an avid soccer fan. But if the Indonesia national team is playing, Nesia would not leave the TV to cheer them. Her rather quiet nature changed drastically during the match.
Dislikes:
- Tight schedule/plan-----Seriously, when do you stop to catch a breath? Won’t your brain goes overheat from all the jobs that have to be done in such a short time? All Nesia wants when she faces a very tight schedule is turn her back and go napping instead. And it’s no fun at all planning everything you’re going to do for the next 72 hours.
- Wasting food-----There’s a saying in her homeland, that if one throw away an edible food, the person can hear them speak and sobbing. Every grain of rice, every slice of meat, every vegetables and fruits uneaten lamenting their unfortunate fate. And it’s not just food that is thrown away; it is also efforts and works of many farmers, merchants and cooks wasted for nothing.
- Too cold/hot weather-----Living in equator with average temperature made her body can’t stand weather that is either too hot or cold.
- Drinking milk-----Nesia can handle one or two small sip, but drinking a full mug? She will instantly feels nausea and there’s a great chance she’ll vomit in no time. However, this only applies to cow milk, especially the plain-flavored one. She has no problem consuming other dairy products like cheese, or drinking milk from other mammals like goat or wild horse.
- Being alone----As someone who was raised in a close knit community, Nesia never found herself alone even in the most mundane daily activity. There's always someone who accompanied her. If she was alone in the open, Nesia would resort to her phone, checking what her cousins and friends are doing online.
- Aggressive people-----The ones who pushed her to do things faster than her own pace, people who demand so many things at once and male zumans who invade her private space. These people scared her.
- Telling someone a bad news-----It's just... she doesn't know how to. Nesia is afraid of the others' reaction and the woman doesn't want to be the target of their emotional outburst.
Interests/Hobbies:
- Dancing-----She was taught many traditional dances by her aunts since early age. There are so many interesting stories behind the dances. Nesia is a good dancer and had performed several times during school festivals. Dancing soothes her mood and works as a stress reliever.
- Learning about new things/people-----Nesia is a curious person. Almost everyone she already met had experienced her never-ending questions about themselves. Everytime she encounters something that piqued her interest, she would look for its information on the internet. She also enjoys reading, and her taste ranged from
cheesyromance novels to scientific journals. - Shopping-----Another one of her stress relievers. To avoid over-doing it, Nesia only goes on shopping spree when there's a sale. Sometimes she bought too much clothes and accessories, she instantly forgot about them. The only reason why she remembers ever buying them is because one of her female cousins finds it and asks if she can have the item, since Nesia apparently never uses them.
- Martial arts-----A woman should know how to protect herself. One of her cousins taught her pencak silat when she was little, proudly exclaiming that she would not be able to make his knees touch the ground. In three years time, Nesia did exactly that, sending him crying to their grandparents. They weren't pleased.
- Handicrafting-----Nesia enjoys making things with her hands. Pottery, painting, sculpting and many more. She pays great attention to detail and likes spending a lot of time to make them.
Aspirations:
- Choosing her own husband-----The idea of marriage has been lurking in her mind since she was a little girl. It does sound beautiful, but marrying someone she barely know is a nightmare. Sure her grandparents and many cousins know her husband-to-be, but Nesia doesn't want spending the rest of her life at the mountain, raising her baby zumans.
- Stops smoking-----Smoking is not a cheap hobby and it's really bad for her health.
- Meeting her father and half-siblings-----Her mother didn't tell her much about them, other than the fact that they are scattered across Asia.
- Graduating-----Nesia left university when she's already in her last year, just few months before graduating. She wants to finish it and earn a degree so she can get a good job.
- Learning French-----She needs a job or going to college so she can settled permanently here, or somewhere else. But she has to master the French language first. She never learned it before and can't speak anything but oui and bonjour.
- Going home-----Nesia didn't even say goodbye to all of her cousins, and she feels a tad guilty for leaving so abruptly. The Indonesian feels they have been wondering about her since she left. Plus, Nesia misses everything about her country - the tropical climate, the slow-paced life, the food, the annoying traffic... everything.
- Performing in a colossal dance-----Everyone who has learned traditional dance had dreamed about this at least once. Dancing an epic story with so many dancers together is an incredible experience. Her mother took her to Ramayana dance performance once and Nesia still remembers it until today.
- Working at CERN-----Everything cool is made in CERN, like the antihydrogen and boson particles! Even though she has left university, Nesia still wants to work there. Imagine being close to the newest scientific discovery... it sounds wonderful!
Fears:
- Drowning-----Since she can't swim, it’s logical for her to fear drowning. What she fears isn’t just drowning in water, but also in contaminated/dirty water, mud or quicksand.
- Getting addicted to nicotine-----It's just barely half a year ago when she started smoking. Nesia has been very careful about her nicotine consumption - never smoke more than one cigarette in three days. Since cigarette is much expensive in France, she knows she'll spend so much money if she got addicted to it.
- Claustrophobia-----Nesia doesn’t mind the darkness, but being unable to move in a very tight space is scary! The air is stagnant and very limited; no windows or hole to peek outside... no chance to escape...
- Her family finding her-----She can't say no to the family elders - it feels impolite to deny their request. A woman running away was unheard in the family. Her cousins will ask her so many questions and Nesia feels it'd be very, very, uncomfortable.
- Ended up alone-----What if she could not settle somewhere? What if she's unable to get a job? What if she never find a zuman to spend the rest of her life with?
Personality: With her ever present smile, Nesia is very approachable. The second you greet her, she would show an interest to you (namely asking you questions about your name, your family, your age, what you're doing for living, your pets, your hobbies, where are you coming from, where are you going to, etc.). If you direct one of those questions to her, Nesia will talk about her family - mostly her cousins. For some people, this quirk may be considered as too interrogative, but she really has no ill intent doing that. Nesia does that to put you into a social grid for her own comfort. The quickest way to make her open up more to you is by saying that you like something from her homeland; be it art, culture or food. Do that and Nesia will instantly consider you as her friend.
Politeness is an inseparable trait of her. Nesia always address people older than her with Mr or Ms before their name. Even though Nesia is insisted to drop the title, she does that to confirm her position before others. Calling someone just with his/her name is impolite in her society, unless Nesia is sure that they are equal. She rarely raise her voice or interrupt others in conversation. It's rather uncomfortable for her to speak an argument against others, so she keeps most of her thoughts to herself. If she has to, for example, denying someone's request, Nesia will not openly say it. She'll make up excuses, hoping you will catch the subtle meaning behind her words. Miscommunication is bound to happen if you used to straightforwardly say your thoughts. Nesia does it to avoid making you 'lose face'/malu or accidentally being rude. She even go as far as refusing an offer, since she feels uncomfortable for making people busy and doesn't want to look greedy. But if you keep insisting, she'll accept it eventually.
Other people may think that she's meek, but in reality Nesia is not. She prefers to stay away from conflicts and choose the quickest solution to end it. Moreover, as long as the circumstances or the authority figure isn't threatening her in any way, she chooses to go along with the flow. Otherwise, Nesia will not hesitate to do anything needed to ensure her own safety. This also applies to other people she cares about, like her family and close friends. She will go the extra mile to protect them, although she knows she will get hurt in the process. Her cousins, especially the young ones, are the only people Nesia considers like her own siblings. She likes nurturing them, teaching them everything she knows. It is somewhat satisfying when the younger zumans look up to her as a role model.
For her, being a good example means that Nesia must maintain her behavior. Showing a slightest hint of bad attitude is simply unacceptable. Nesia feels other people would not like her as much as before if they find that out; they might even hate her. She doesn't want to make her family disappointed either, so she'd rather pretend that everything is okay. To escape the stress, Nesia sometimes go on a shopping spree. After her mother's death, the woman often go to someplace hidden to smoke. Despite the fact that smoking is not uncommon in her family (most of her male relatives are smoker), Nesia doubts they would accept this behavior. Compared to smoking, her laziness, tendency to be late and to procrastinate are harder to hide. It's easy to find her taking a nap at places not commonly used to sleep, like under the table. Nesia knows when the situation needed her to be diligent, but she chose to do it only in emergency cases. Her motto is 'live for today' after all. Why worrying over something that can be done tomorrow anyway?
When it comes to romance, she still sees it as something from fictional work. Meaning that she knows almost nothing about romance in real life. Nesia had seen her classmates dating each other back in high school, but she never had that experience apart from few one-sided crushes. University consumed much of her time and energy, so until she left the country Nesia never had time for dates. She believes that emotional intimacy comes first before the physical one, yet she doesn't know how to start a relationship. The males in her family rarely display their feelings towards their spouses and she never seen her parents together. Because of her curiosity, Nesia presumes she will understand how someday.
She relies a lot on her curious and optimist nature. They had helped her survived university years, and undoubtedly, will help her too at this time when she's far from home. Of course, sometimes having such a huge interest to many things have a down side. Nesia frequently forgets that she has no right to know every little personal detail about someone. Just like she hates guys who invade her physical private space, Nesia has to remember that she can't invade someone's mental private space.
Family:
- Father - unknown
- Mother; deceased - Anoa (lowland)
- Several half siblings - unknown
- Maternal grandparents, three grand-uncles, a grand-aunt, two uncles, four aunts, few cousins, several second cousins, distant relatives - all Anoas
Brief History: Nesia was born at unmapped, unnamed village at Katipi Mountain. Her father wasn't present at her birth, and never would in her entire life. Rumor said he married so many women throughout his life, since his zuman offsprings can be found everywhere in Asia. Nesia's mother met him when she was working in the city. They got married, she got pregnant and then he disappeared, leaving her and baby Nesia alone. Obeying her family's persistent persuasion, she let them take care of Nesia while she was away to continue working in Jakarta.
Nesia was grew around her maternal, anoa-zumans family. For centuries, this family has been living close to anoa's natural habitat and they believe they were the only zumans ever existed. Zumans descended from other animals were unheard for the family elders, even though her mother had told them about her husband and Nesia's half siblings. Eventually, when Nesia was old enough to attend formal school, her mother brought her to live with her in Jakarta.
Moving from a close-knit village, where everyone knows everyone well, to the big city with the constantly working mother made her depressed for a while. She knew almost nobody in the city and compared to the village, Jakarta was a chaotic place to live. The zumans community there didn't have a school exclusively for zuman children, so Nesia had to go to normal human school. Fitting in was a hard process and she spent almost her entire time in elementary school to learn just that.
Middle school was much easier, because her mother had more time for her and there were few zumans enrolled in her school. They helped her adapting to city life and stay under the radar. Her life from this point on was pretty much similar to her human classmates. She even enjoyed it. Once a year, her mother always brought her back to Katipi Mountain during school holidays, so she can spend more time with her cousins.
Everytime she went there, one of her older cousins got married to someone from the village - whom technically was their distant cousin - or to someone from outside the village, but was an anoa-zuman. Shortly after her sixteenth birthday, Nesia asked her mother more details about her father and half siblings. That was when she learned that her mother was the first woman in her family who didn't marry a fellow anoa-zuman. The family elders thought non-anoa zumans' blood stained their heritage. To prevent it, they arranged marriage for the children once they were seventeen years old.
Horrified, for a moment she thought the next time she's spending her school holiday there, her grandparents would introduce her to her husband-to-be. Her mother said that was why she left the village and married the first zuman she fell in love with. She said she would not let the elders try to make Nesia married a man but the girl's own choice. It's impolite to turn down their request, even the mere thought of it already make her feel guilty. On the other hand, she's really not ready to relinquish her freedom and raise children. Somehow, her mother was able to persuade them, but it's only effective as long as Nesia stayed at school. So she graduated from high school, then immediately enrolled to a university, majoring in physics.
Everything was going smoothly until an accident took her mother's life when Nesia was in her third year. Her study in university got harder and she often saw one of her uncles showed up at her front door, trying to convince her to go back to their village since she never went there after her mother's death. Although she knew that her cousins missed her, Nesia also completely aware that there was another purpose behind it. She made up lies to avoid her uncles and stopped communicating with her cousins, afraid the elders might use them to do their bidding. The pressure was high, stress and insomnia were no longer uncommon. Smoking became her daily escapement.
Then one day, Nesia found one of her female cousins waiting on her door. She was really dear to her, which made it hard to refuse her request to go home with her. After spending three days straight pleading, Nesia finally succumbed. The woman packed her things, the necessary stuffs, then headed to the airport.
Of course her heart was not ready for this. She had to leave, or her life would be nothing but living in the village, raising children from a man she did not love. Nesia waited until her companion left her alone for a bit, then grabbed her luggage and ran. She didn't stop until she reached international departure hall, where she purchased a one way ticket to Singapore, and left thirty minutes afterwards. Then in her destination, she took a flight to Bangkok. Then Shanghai. New Delhi. Istanbul. Paris. Tired of flying, Nesia took a train after randomly bought the ticket without looking at the destination.
Nesia found herself on Banyuls-sur-mer, France. That was when she realized if she kept traveling, she'd run out of money soon. Nesia needed a job, then maybe she'd fly somewhere else where English is more commonly used in daily basis.

She could feel her head getting dizzy and her heart beating faster. Indonesia felt a need to cool herself down, maybe she could go to the kitchen and grab a cup of ice cream and eat somewhere alone so nobody heard her complaining aloud about her recent guest. Also... while she did able to save her phone from the raging Swiss, Nesia was unsure if her food survived the bullet rain. Probably not. She shook her head, cringed. Wasting food is... is... unforgivable! What a cruel thing to do! No one would be able to eat the food and she had to throw them away!
But before she was able to reach the kitchen, Nesia heard quick footsteps going after her. The young woman turned her head - out of curiosity - and a bit regretted her decision. Now that she made an eye contact with Vash, she had to talk to him. He began with an apology, then a wish to continue discussing the trade. It's a dilemma for her since he just destroyed one of her meeting rooms...
Taking a deep breath, Nesia replied, "I accept your apology, Mr. Switzerland," she even made another brief eye contact - a tad out of her habit. "However, since you just... made the room unusable for some time, I hope you don't mind to..." she tugged her ponytail, "pay for the damage. I can arrange another room if... you agree to pay for that."
She hoped her intentions were clear to him. If Vash didn't want to pay the damage he had done, then the talk is over.
