Name: Natalia Petrovna Arlovskaya
Nicknames: Natasha, Nat, Natya, Natka
Age: 19
Date of Birth: August 25th
Gender: Female
Occupation: Librarian
Heritage: Asp Viper
Seed Rank: Light Seed
Birthplace: near Mstislavl, Belarus
Appearance: A light tone accentuates both her skin (suggesting she doesn't spend much time under the sun) and her platinum blonde hair, which could almost be deemed white or silver. It falls in long, straight locks over her shoulders, bangs falling in wisps over her eyelashes when they aren't parted to either side. There's a cold look in violet eyes, pale rosy lips almost never bearing a smile. Her body is fit and well curved, slim around her hips and packing rather insignificantly at the chest. She seems to have an affiliation for ribbons, given there's always a neat bow on a spot on her head - or wherever she can make them fit on her clothing. She does have a rather large wardrobe of dresses and designer outfits, preferring darker shades of colors and nothing that's too revealing. And, naturally, there's always a hidden pocket somewhere where she can hide her favorite blade.
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Likes:
- Flowers | She will inwardly enjoy the sight of flowers, flax and sunflowers being among her favorites. On occasion she may try to grow some of her own, though gardening was never really her specialty. She would rather keep them in a vase or bundled up as a bouquet to be gifted. A fondness for flowers seems to run through her siblings.
- Knives | Her pride and joy is her throwing knife, safely hidden away when not in her hand. Sometimes she enjoys threatening others with it even more than putting it to actual use - unless she's in dire need of defending herself. She couldn't bring herself to kill with it, either, and injures only when necessary. As long as the blade isn't too dulled or ruined. Misplacing it or having it taken off her person makes her feel terribly antsy and aggravated until she gets it back.
- Strawberries | Strawberries are her favorite food. She enjoys various berries in general, most especially when they're mixed or baked in with another dish. Whenever she's offered a sweet, most likely she'll prefer it strawberry flavored.
- Sweets | A sweet tooth can't help themselves. This applies to pastries and sugary confectioneries of all sorts, so long as she doesn't always have to try and bake them herself. She isn't self-conscious about her figure, though she doesn't exactly want to gorge herself either.
- Dark Colors | She'd rather not wear colors that are flashy and attract attention, unless she really needs it for something. She prefers a darker environment, whether it's the weather outside or the drapery and decorations hung in her rooms. Dark blues and purples are her favorite.
- Snow | Even if she might not like the cold, snow itself offers a more homely feeling. She's been surrounded by snow since she was young, and back then she did enjoy playing in it whenever she had the chance. It reminds her of the few good moments she got to spend with family, a leisure she doesn't see too often nowadays.
- Dolls / Plushies | She uses free time to make plushies that resemble people she loves or is close to, as a way to keep them close and think of them even if they really aren't there. Rather than carrying them around and letting anyone else knows she has them, she only keeps them in her room once they are made. Regular dolls aren't as easily obtained, but she adores them all the same, even if she isn't open about it.
- Ice Skating | She's had plenty of practice and enjoys taking the time to go skating, whether it's with company (depending on the person) or, preferably, on her own. In either case, it's another way she can enjoy herself despite the cold temperature.
- Dance | She is enamored with waltz and ballroom dancing and takes interest in the event itself, balls that are lively with dancing and activity.. as long as she doesn't always have to participate. One-on-one dancing is a way for her to grow close to someone, and while the number of dances she knows how to perform herself is limited, she's also well acquainted with ballet.
- Rock Music | This was a type of music she was introduced to and enjoyed right away. She likes to listen to nearly everything that harbors the melodic or rough sound of a guitar, as the majority of them have lyrics that can speak out to her.
- Ivan | Needless to say, she is head over heels with everything that has to do with her brother. His language and personality, the ways of his culture and his traditions. She always wanted to be like him, completely disregarding anyone else's opinion on the matter. There is little that can waver her mind and it's probably the thing she is most persistent about, since she worries over her brother and wants to keep him safe. She seems not to care what others might think about him, but is defensive either way, wanting her brother to be accepted by everyone and to find someone that can make him happy, even if it isn't herself.
- Sister | Her sister is just as precious to her, even if she disapproves of her weak, crybaby behavior. She'd always looked up to her sister like a mother figure as well, giving her credit for most of the things Natalia is able to do today (sewing, baking, gardening) and simply another of the few people she, as the youngest of the family, will look up to and listen to. Her siblings are the only two who can make her smile, and she is incredibly protective of both and would do just about anything for them.
- Fashion | When it comes to outfits, she does like to experiment in different styles. Though she is most often seen wearing a dress, even if it's just a plain maid's dress, she is not shy to other things so long as they are not a sort of bright pink or anything else too contrasting to her personality. As long as she is seen as attractive to those whose opinions matter.
- Countryside | The bustling of cities is not her forte. She likes large, expansive tracts of land like those she's used to: the quiet sides of land that are not burdened by excessive noise or crowding people. Spacious land makes for better roaming, a more simple style of living and simply somewhere she has grown too well adjusted to to want to change, somewhere where she is less likely to be bothered.
- Love/Romance | She is all over the idea of romance, however cheesy the stories might be. Even if she isn't experienced in it herself, she relies on seeing the budding love of another couple or even a book or so - though asking for advice is embarrassing - to try and mimic on others to see if she will get the same result from her partner. And usually, it doesn't work out for her.
- Marriage | Natalia has always dreamed of getting married. She finds the idea of two people coming together in matrimony to devote their lives to one another a precious matter. She relies on marriage to give her the complete sense of belonging to someone, to be as close as she can possibly be, and to know that marriage means that she is a part of another person and they feel mutually about her.
- Horror | While romance is fancied, she's also particularly interested in the more macabre side of things. Though she may not always intend to, she does enjoy terrifying and making people panic when the mood comes. Ghosts, old legends and stories, modern books and films - it's nearly impossible for her to be frightened by them herself, and rather she likes to spread them onto others to see their reactions.
- Technology | She enjoys MP3 players in particular, as well as phones so that she can communicate with her siblings whenever and take pictures as she wishes.
- Trivia | She likes to collect random tidbits of information that aren't really of any use, and will throw out such random facts as she wishes.
- Pranks | Occasionally she will be in enough of a playful mood that she might play a little prank on someone, usually in the form of prank calling.. or sneaking around in her snake form, since snakes are such a common fear. She's very good at keeping a straight face while doing so.
Dislikes:
- Groups | No matter the area, she doesn't like general group gatherings. She doesn't like being in close proximity of strangers or really anyone else, nor does she like being social or having anyone in her personal space... unless she's the one willingly invading someone else's.
- Compliments | Being complimented on anything does not conjure the positive reactions its giver may expect. Even if they're genuine, she is commonly lead to believe that compliments given to her are out of fear or simply said even though they don't mean it; and since she usually can't tell which one, she chooses not to accept them. She finds it hard to believe anyone else's opinion on herself and usually will become flustered by compliments and, on account of occasionally appreciating them though not quite being sure how to react, she will be bewildered and deny them.
- Physical Contact | One must always be careful when laying a hand on her. Whatever the gesture may be is most often responded to in the only extent of physical contact she prefers to give in return: shoving the other person away, hitting them, etc.
- Noise | She'll despise anyone who's particularly noisy, and will always prefer a quieter, more peaceful place to anything that's too bustling. She speaks in low and quiet tones herself, but doesn't resist having to raise it to a higher volume if the need arises - if only to get everything else to quiet down.
- Being Ignored | While she doesn't like being under the spotlight, she won't want to be ignored when she's expecting otherwise, either. Even though a woman such as herself isn't likely to go ignored anyway, she will do whatever she finds necessary to make herself noticed - most often in situations where she wants to get her opinion across or is simply being protective of someone else.
- Being Bossed | Stubborn when it comes to being told what to do, she will either not do anything or do exactly opposite of what she is told. She doesn't like to think of the fact that she's younger than both of her siblings, though still, they are the only ones she'd rather have to listen to. (She'd prefer to boss around someone who's below her.)
- Girliness | Things like bright girly colors, make-up, and shopping make her want to feel nauseous. Though there are points where she will tolerate them, possibly in the occasion that she's trying to befriend another woman and make nice with them for some reason.
- Jewelry | She's never fancied a piercing or tattoo, nor does she wear any accessories aside from her ribbons - only if jewelry is given to her specially as a gift will she consider wearing them. Lockets are perfect for holding a little memorable picture inside and wedding rings, of course, are key to a perfect marriage.. though other than those, she goes without wearing anything of the sort.
- Drinking | Her brother is a fairly heavy drinker and, drunk or not, it is enough to worry her what it does to him - she insists that her sister does not pick up drinking either, as well as having promised herself she wouldn't do so. Perhaps if she was really influenced to, for just one time, so long as he does not find herself with a bad habit forming. She's almost afraid of what kind of person she'd be if she were drunk, and that's why she tends not to try anything of the sort.
- Heat | Given her fondness of the snow and being used to her culture and climate, as well as those that surround all of Eastern Europe - although summers can get excessively warm and hot - she is content without having to go through those humid seasons all the time.
- Flirting | She's especially paranoid of the fact that flirtations might lead to nothing but being lead on in the end. When she has her mind set on someone, flirty attempts made by anyone else are immediately shut down. And even if she doesn't have anyone, she is wary and usually does not take lightly to other potential partners. Those types that flirt with anyone around are especially despised, as she doesn't simply want to be another object to be toyed with until they move on to someone else.
- Weaklings | She prefers people who can stand up for themselves rather than being a pushover. Pushovers are the types of people she'll like to taunt and push around all the time, if only for the sake of amusing herself, and trying to man them up a little.
- Crying | In her opinion, crying is indeed an act of weakness. It's something she would abhor to be seen doing in front of others, or doing by herself. She will tell herself she is stronger than that and force herself against tears even if she knows she's alone, though it isn't always possible to resist them.
Interests/Hobbies:
- Stalking | If her interests have latched onto someone, so will the rest of her. Literally. She's clingy to those she cares for, and when not in actual range for physical contact for them, she'll be content to follow them around in 'secret' and observe everything they do, everywhere they go. Years of practice have led to her being rather stealthy at this.
- Knife throwing | When not practicing on actual people, she practices this skill of hers on common things such as walls, doors and trees. She'll do it when she's bored, or sometimes as a way to vent anger, frustration, or really any emotion of the sort; but either way, it's something that might be frightening to others, but very relaxing to her.
- Baking | She can cook only a few small things, but baking is where she's much better. Only when she's alone will she take to baking things such as small pastries or anything that involves using her favorite berries, and she of course never lets this secret reach the ears of anyone else.
- Observing things | She can spend hours staring at one thing, no matter what it is. Whether she's standing or sitting somewhere, her train of focus can remain on one thing for a frighteningly long while, and she will just quietly take in every little detail of whatever she's so absorbed in without finding anything odd about it. Usually houses or people.
- Daydreaming | She's very prone to spacing out at odd times, and usually it's because she'll be off in her own little dream world, fantasizing about things or thinking too hard on things that shouldn't be thought so intricately about. She'll tend to space out right in the middle of someone speaking to her, giving herself something more interesting to think about rather than the situation she's actually in.
- Romance Novels | She'll enjoy reading them - especially romance novels that fill her mind with silly fantasies regarding love and marriage and happily ever after.
Aspirations:
- Finding Love | After being repeatedly rejected by the heart she sought, she's more sensitive when it comes to romance. The lengths she goes to in order to earn someone's love might seem desperate, but she'll be very selective about whether or not she'll try to move on and find someone else. While she's always been afraid of doing that, there's always the little thought that sometimes surfaces in her mind that there might be someone better out there.. she can actually become quick to like someone, and once she can warm herself up to that fact, she won't be hesitant to show this someone her feelings. She only wants someone whom she knows will stay with her, someone that will allow her to show how capable she can be of being a tame lover.
- Starting a Family | When she's ready, she knows she'll want to start a little family of her own, with as many children as she wants. She hasn't always been very fond of children, but she feels she'll warm up to them if it means being a mother along with a father she can be happy with.
- Getting Married | As aforementioned, she yearns to feel what it's like to have such love returned to her, to know how it feels to be loved beyond a simple family love. And marriage is something she most always dreams about and hopes will one day come, even if it doesn't get to be with her brother. She already has perfect scenarios all planned out, and how beautiful her dress and her groom's tuxedo and the whole entire wedding and its decorations and music will look.
Fears:
- Rejection | It is perhaps the coldest feeling she's ever experienced, and of course, she isn't a stranger to it. With her persistence, she isn't one to give up on something when she's rejected. And no matter her struggle to keep on striving to achieve something she wants, she still fears the cold bite of rejection each time. She does put a lot of effort into trying to reach her goals, after all.
- Abandonment | As independent she is when it comes to everyone else, she's still dependent on the presence of family - and most of all, her family actually wanting her to be around. She'd be lost without either of them and often does everything she can to make sure they accept her; were they to do the opposite, she wouldn't know what to do with herself.
- Betrayal | Gaining her trust is something that's difficult to do; but if it happens, then she'll slowly become attached and rather dependent on that person.. so to shatter that trust will leave her both humiliated and broken, and back to being distant from people as she was in the beginning.
- Fire | Of course, small flames like lighters and candles won't send her fleeing, but she'll be paranoid of them. She's frightened of the risk of larger fires catching and spreading, given how easily they can destroy something or someone.
- Drowning | She's never learned how to swim, so she tends to avoid large bodies of water in general.
- Humiliation | She still has her sense of pride that she doesn't like anyone else trying to ruin or jest at. Of course, it isn't often that people would dare to try poking fun at her, and even if her responses to such might be violent, she is capable of being rather embarrassed on the inside; and she doesn't ever want anyone to see that show on the outside.
Personality: Adorned in such feminine attire and ribbons, she’s the epitome of someone whose appearance contrasts her personality and whose inner workings show not on the exterior. Her pale face is dressed in a solemn, monotonous expression which masks all that lies beneath it, eyes of such amethyst hue regarding the world with apparent distaste, rosy lips stretching in rare smiles to only those that deserve it. She’s very reserved when it comes to expressing her emotions, especially in the face of strangers, most often keeping them all bottled up inside of her rather than showing at the surface - and with such a serious visage as this, it isn’t an understatement to say she can come off as intimidating. And while she doesn’t always want to come off as someone she’s not, she will often use these vibes to her advantage. Reserved and untrusting of strangers, she prefers steering clear of any contact or interaction with anyone, keeping them at bay with her unwelcoming and cold demeanor.
In the chance that there is someone who sees past that barrier and does wish to be acquainted with her, she is very selective about who she trusts. Gaining her trust is not a simple feat, for her initial views on people are judgmental; she is wary of just about anyone excluded from her family circle and won’t like them from the start. She never was a social butterfly and never quite learned how to properly interact with people, and so any interaction she actually will engage in can often be rather short-lived and awkward. Without knowing very well how to start or contribute to conversations, she just tends to avoid them as a whole. This can make her seem rather timid and quiet, though she wouldn’t ever consider herself as shy. If she needs to approach someone or get something through to them, she won’t back down from it. She’s a very blunt person who doesn’t see consequence in her words or actions, and if there’s something on her mind, then she will often flat-out say it in the most blunt of possible ways, regardless of the effect it might have on people.
She’s always skeptic of the intentions of other people, another factor which contributes to her hesitance to trust. It is a sense of paranoia, but she’s protective enough over her siblings that she’s wary someone might wish to harm them or speak to them in a way that would upset her. Even if she might think her mind is set on who she loves, she will often find a deep rooted fear of becoming attached to someone else. Just because she hasn’t given up on Ivan doesn’t mean she hasn’t noticed his fear of her all these years - it hurts, and she’s become afraid that the same might happen to anyone else she starts to like. Sometimes she can’t help but expect it out of other men. Despite such a stoic expression, there is a girl who is capable of being flustered and blushing underneath all that ice. Upon receiving compliments or affection of any sort, they will be quickly disregarded and thrown away, and that person will be accused of just saying that without really meaning their words.. though Natalya can’t help but hold onto the feeble hope that someone actually does think she’s pretty or something of that sort. If Ivan says she is, then she’ll believe it, but it comes as a surprise if someone else says so as well.
And of course, flustered isn’t the only other emotion she can feel. Despite such a stoic expression, she most certainly isn’t incapable of feeling other emotions. Warmth, happiness, love and affection are emotions she’s very familiar with, she just isn’t always sure how exactly to express them the correct way. She’s gotten so used to being flat and without showing emotion that it’s strange for her to do otherwise, though at the same time she’ll think of the occasional rare smile or laugh as a rather nice change for her. If others tell her to try and smile and be happy more often, she doesn’t listen, for those are things people have to work to achieve from her.
Although she’s the youngest of her siblings, she’s insistent on being protective over both of them, and showing them that she can be much more than just the baby sister. She’s watchful of who they interact with, only with intent to make sure that no one seems too likely to cause them harm. Occasionally in stretches of desperation, she only wants to prove to her siblings that she’s capable of being strong and standing up for them, even if it means caring more over their safety than her own. And that is the case more often than not. If Ivan or Katyusha happen to find a love interest, while she will be awfully jealous, she won’t put it upon herself to do anything extreme about it. If she knows this significant other person make her siblings happy, then she won’t take that happiness away from them. Perhaps a threat or two, but she’ll let them live their romantic lives as they wish.
Jealousy is a burdening feeling that seems to be with her all the time, yet another of those that remain lingered in that hidden pool inside of her. Seeing a happy couple roaming the streets can have her envious, even the sight of women whom she finds to be much more beautiful than herself; but the only way she can deal with this jealousy is take it out on something else, really. Items lying in her path are almost always at risk of being destroyed if she’s in an upset or irritated mood, and she won’t refrain from injuring people if they happen to be in her way too. She’s actually a rather sensitive person who can be easily set off by insulting words. Even if something makes her upset or perhaps even on the verge of crying, she immediately evades this by turning that into anger; whether it’s at another person or herself, her temper is something that will easily flare. When she’s angry, she often is aware of what she’s doing, and aware of how hurtful her antics can be; but she often doesn’t care about the feelings of others if she’s meaning to crush them. Her threats can be brutal, and they aren’t always something she’ll back down from doing if someone pushes her far enough. She may be emotionally delicate, but there is a lot of physical strength harbored underneath that pale feminine appearance. As aforementioned, she’ll get this pent up release by taking it out on other things, and if she does have to resort to unwanted tears, she’ll make sure she’s in the presence of no one. She doesn’t go out and seek company to comfort her in times like these, but she won’t always reject it, either.
There are indeed some fears present in her, though they’re another thing she doesn’t let show to anyone. She tries to make herself come off as fearless, with the worry that someone will think of her as weak if she shows such fear to anything. She’s often jeering at and scolding those who are easily frightened by things, insisting to them that they need to strengthen up - when it comes to anyone being upset, she isn’t very good at knowing how to console them. She’ll scold people for crying or doing anything that falls under her definition of a wimp. There are a lot of aspects and qualities of people that can irritate her, and her words can come off as rather cold and cruel when she’s speaking to such people. She doesn’t tolerate anyone who deliberately annoys her, even if they don’t actually mean to, and she won’t be afraid of causing actual physical harm to them if it means getting them to leave her alone. She can be picky about those who decide to befriend her, more likely to accept someone who’s strong enough to handle her brisk personality rather than someone who is afraid of their own shadow.
She’s a very persistent woman who will put up a fight and do anything to get something she sets her mind on. A sore loser who doesn’t like to lose in such attempts, she certainly won’t bring giving up into consideration. She finds giving up a sign of weakness and so she will push all of her strength and will into something, even if it means causing damage to herself. It may seem at times that she just doesn’t know when to stop, and she certainly can come off as obsessive to someone.. but her intentions are not at all to put herself off as any such thing. She hates being referred to as insane or crazy, because she knows her efforts aren’t actually meant to scare someone or something away from her; she just wants that something to hold onto. She’s very patient in the sense that she will indeed wait her whole life for something, but in the case she might have competition up against her, that patience can quickly wear thin. She is a competitive person and won’t be gentle in dealing with any opponents, only wanting to point blank get rid of them rather than waste time playing games. She does have a strong sense of pride, after all, and she prefers to keep it high in place.
When it comes to romance, there are very few who will see the affectionate side of the woman. She’s very loyal to companions and always puts their priorities over her own, wanting nothing but to see that they’re happy with her; and of course, so long as she’s certain they are happy, then she will be as well. She’s subtle when it comes to showing someone how she feels about them, often reaching rather ridiculous measures to get her message across - she can be rather cheesy in this sense, liking to express herself through means of love letters, gifts, flowers, teddy bears, etc. Romantic things are always a soft spot to her, and she’ll enjoy such activities as reading romance novels, reading about weddings, and looking through wedding catalogues. Being wed and starting a family has always been one of her dreams, as well as the whole cliché aspect of finding that one man or woman of her dreams. She’s always been surprisingly good with children, even though she can’t always figure out why they end up liking her. She can be strict with children if she needs to, but there’s always the chance of a more motherly slide slipping. She doesn’t often let this side of her show, afraid that someone will think of her as too girlish or mushy this way. But she can’t help herself being so star struck by these things.
She’s very against being feminine, despite the dresses she always loves to wear - and she is indeed in love with fashion, always dressing up with ribbons and dresses of different designs, fabrics and colors. Despite her seeming inability to make friends, she’ll sometimes rather like having a friend who’s female in particular, because being around other females often makes her feel more in place. She may be hesitant at the start, but if another woman tries hard enough they can potentially persuade Natalya to let go of her more stiff exterior and actually let loose once in a while; allow herself to be, well, the girl she is at heart.
She is intelligent and knows how to use her skills to her advantage. Her tongue is just as sharp as her skill with weaponry, namely knives, and she won’t be afraid to use this to get what she wants from somebody. Whenever she is actually meaning to make others afraid of her, she’ll use this intimidation as key to manipulate others into doing what she wants them to do for her. She can be quiet on her feet and therefore stealthy in her motives, having had a well amount of practice with climbing obstacles and sneaking around things throughout her life, and yes, she will often use this skill for stalking. But that always comes in handy. She very well knows she’s capable of feeling and can be a good person and companion at heart, she just has trouble expressing it to others; such a quiet person who always seems out of tune with what’s happening, and who seems to stick out amongst everyone else, but really she’s only waiting for something to change. A complex web of personality is what entails this woman, bundled under a layer of ice strong at the surface yet fragile at the roots.
Family:
- Mother - Yevgeniya
- Father - Pyotr [deceased]
- Older brother - Ivan
- Older sister - (Ukraine)
- Paternal grandmother - Ludmila
Brief History: Natalia was born into a troubled family that would, for a rather long few years, go without understanding to the youngest of the three siblings. Her birth was in the northeastern region of the Mogilyov Oblast in Belarus, near the small town of Mstislavl near the Russian border. She was unexpected, and neither parent felt mutual happiness regarding her arrival - and with the poor economy and entire weight upon the family's shoulders, Natalia received little compared to what other children would.
Her time was always spent with figures of authority, and she knew no one that was younger than she: her mother, elder siblings and grandmother all served as guardian figures, and for a good while she looked up to all of them at once. And despite the gap of age, Natalia would grow to set further strain between the three with how greatly her personality differed from theirs, her habits melding differently from those of the family.
Natalia had always been a quiet, peculiar child. She was distant from other children and often stuck to entertaining herself at her own accord, rejecting any offers for company. She didn’t have any dreams or aspirations that most other young girls did, but her imagination was vast. She enjoyed the outdoors, seeing as she'd spent a lot of times with her siblings and grandmother traveling. She liked the snow most of all, because the cold meant she had a better chance of getting to snuggle up with her family - and whenever she went to wander and play on her own, she took a liking to building strange figures and sculptures in the snow.
Her grandmother kept Natalia hooked on fairy tales and folk legends of the sort, and it was already clear that Natalia's imagination was growing. She liked the idea of Snegurochka and her icy heart destined to fall in love, and once Natalia reached a stage of literacy she wanted to read all sorts of tales like this. What grew most was a dazed affiliation for ideas involving romance. Even if love was a "grown-up feeling" that she wasn't able to understand yet, she seemed to take interest earlier than what would be expected.
When the beginning years of school were on the horizon, Natalia's curiosity began to inquire on the state of her family. She noticed how quiet and distant they had always been, and her family hoped that the girl wouldn't ever question her father - but once she noticed he was never around, she did. She questioned all about her father, why their mother was so upset all the time, why they were always with their grandmother. Questions like these were usually directed to her mother and elder sister, but Natalia never quite received the answer she was hoping for. She was persistent about it, given she didn't realize the strife their father had put everyone through, frustrated when she wasn't able to understand it herself. Though all that seemed to quiet down when their mother's new boyfriend arrived, anyway.
Those stories Natalia always read indicated that a female and a male would do this thing called "fall in love" and later on, experience the wonderful event called a marriage. She, as a toddler, saw pictures of weddings, and thought they were one of the most beautiful things she had seen. Aside from snow, of course. She set her aspirations early, and declared to a strong little heart in her chest that she was one day going to find the perfect man and get married to him. And, well.. nothing at that point told her that it was illegal to feel for your brother in that way, and since Ivan was the only male she ever spent time with, she chose him first. Of course, they were both children, so Ivan wouldn't think anything of it. But Natalia knew she had their future set in stone, definitely.
She began to grow clingy to him, whenever they actually had time to spend with each other. But all of the three siblings seemed to be growing distant from each other. Ivan spent time in his room, and Natalia spent time alone in her own, or perhaps with her elder sister. Mother's new boyfriend was frightening, and Natalia at one point noticed what trouble he was causing Ivan - and she wanted to do something about it. She couldn't believe that anyone was treating her brother in that fashion, and with her destiny to marry him, she knew she had to start acting as a perfect sister and protector right away.. but naturally, the youngest, smallest child there wouldn't ever be able to stand up to her mother's boyfriend. Unfortunately she didn't know what to do about making Ivan feel better, so she just tried to stick close to him as often as she could. She wanted all his attention and didn't want other people to go near him, in case they would all upset him.. but at one point, even she had to be taken away from him.
Yevgeniya's relationships continued to trouble the household, and just before Natalia had reached adolescence, her brother and grandmother had moved out of the house and left them behind. She hated who she was left there with, but her protests didn't get her anywhere. Her mother and elder sister wanted to shape Natalia into a polite young woman, but Natalia pushed away all those ideas. She wanted to be like her big brother - tough and masculine, not girly and weak like those two were. Being without her brother for so long left the girl bitter and distant from her other family, spending hours in her room staring out the window and waiting for him to come back. It occasionally slipped her mind that since it was his choice to leave, he wouldn't want to come back.. but she forcefully told herself that Ivan would never be the type of brother to leave his sisters behind forever, right? So hope was all she had, at that point.
Her elder sister was persistent in getting Natalia to spend time with her and her mother, and sometimes Natalia did cave in. She occasionally helped them out with cooking and baking, which were minor skills that Natalia kept all throughout her lifetime. But they weren't her priority, and not where her main interest was held. Natalia took a liking to reading books, any book she could find - romance books, of course, as well as books about horrors, mysteries and astronomy. When she didn't spend all her time with her nose buried in one of those books, she also learned skills such as sewing from her mother. She did notice that her mother still seemed to be upset and hurt all the time, and that intensified Natalia's dislike for every man that wanted to stay with Yevgeniya. The boyfriend was strict toward her as well, however, and Natalia had gained a rather rude, sarcastic tone toward him that earned her punishments. And those punishments assisted in hardening Natalia's cold personality that stuck with her for all these years. She wanted to protect her mother and sister from him, but she was usually put down for even trying.
Natalia made no friends in school, for the reason that she didn't want any. There were boys that tried to hit on her and get her to date them, though she treated them roughly whenever they became a bother - and all of them did. She was still very set on the idea of marrying her brother. She certainly wasn't afraid to admit it, either. Whenever she did tell people that, she was dubbed titles such as "crazy and "a freak". She especially hated being called anything such as crazy and insane, but she wouldn't let any sensitivity get to her. She did very well with her studies, but often landed herself in trouble for the rude way which she spoke to other students and even teachers. Natalia wasn't lady-like by any means, even if she liked to wear dresses.
She was reunited with her brother for a while, but his return wasn't solid. She received word that he had moved off to France, and although she wasn't able to go right away, she was determined that she would see him again - she wanted to catch up with everything she had missed about him, afraid that she would grow too distant from either Ivan or their sister. She did various work at home as a seamstress and a clothing store clerk up until she graduated from school, wanting to save her money for moving to France rather than enrolling in any local colleges. Once enough money was earned over the years, she moved off to Banyuls-sur-Mer with hope of finding either of her siblings, insisting that her sister would come along. She left behind her seamstress days to become a librarian there instead - since she's so distant from society and doesn't like working with people, the library is a more quiet and easy environment. Living in this community is something she still needs to get used to, what with the change in people and climate over all. Though as long as she knows she isn't completely separated from her siblings for the rest of time, she can learn to adjust on her own.

Violet eyes that had been doing their routinely scanning of stocked books twitched, a pale hand rising to pluck that misplaced book from its spot. Didn't people know their alphabet by now?
Natalya happened to be in the romance section of books, working as was customary to make sure that the shelves were all in their proper order by author. It was painfully common that library goers decided to place books wherever they pleased, especially when it wasn't even in the correct category. The book was carted over to where the A author section was, fit in with the rest of the romance books with the cliché couples on the covers. The men always had to look like Fabio with their lack of shirts and long hair flowing in the wind... it made her scoff. Men never looked that perfect, and these relationships weren't real anyway.
She didn't want to linger here, lest someone caught her looking at all these cheesy romance novels. Not that she was interested in any. Or ever read any of them in her life. Not at all. She continued strolling down the aisle, continuing her observing to make sure that nothing else was out of order. The library was never as quiet as everybody thought, for there was always a noise around every corner to reach paranoid ears.
The ruffling of pages, the scuffing of feet, the lilt of various accented voices speaking in hushed whispers to each other. There were always those that would make horrid noise on purpose, disrupting the peace of everyone else for their own leisure. She never bothered too much with those groups, because one; they tended to jeer or make gestures at her, or just not listen to her at all, and two; she unfortunately would be at risk of losing this job were she to stab a blade through their faces. It was a nice mental image, but she'd rather not disappoint her siblings by being fired.
She never really treated anyone with a smile, not even a forced one. She came here for the benefit of keeping herself at peace and out of suspicion regarding her other job, enough that it almost felt like a second home here in this building. She'd answer questions, stamp books, throw books into the cart to be returned, and that would be it for being social. Otherwise she was able to curl up and read a book of her own as she pleased, until another disruption came up. Aside from the other librarians.. well, thankfully one of them was quiet all the time.
Her blonde head lifted, noticing through a gap between two shelves that that particular librarian and another figure were conversing. Not that this was different from any other occurrence, though the one with brunette hair just barely sparked familiarity to her. The two women together seemed different than any other chance meeting.. but who knew whether this was her sort of business to pry into? Natalya was usually never one to approach other people, especially not with any blatant intention to make friends. They could just be talking about stupid girl gossip for all she knows.. well, somehow. Even if she was one herself, she barely understood how other girls work.
So she'd pull this off subtly. Before anyone would happen to notice that she was suspiciously staring through cracks in shelves, she finally resurfaced to approach her spot at the front desk, sitting and smoothing down her dress. "I jost mate sure everythink is put back correctly," she offered in a mutter to Mi-Yun, eyes sliding coolly over to the Italian without much expectation for a response from either of them.
